Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Can you adapt (insert brand here) headphones to the iPhone cable?
We are currently working only with the Etymotic ER-6 and ER-6i earphones for custom work. The reason for this is because it is one of the few high end earphones that are not glued completely shut and that don't use a heat moulded strain relief. Although we are also working with the Future Sonics FS1, we don't allow customers to send these in for custom work because we find that about 5% of the FS1s will break during disassembly. We don't want to risk breaking your headphones.

2. What if I don't like them, can I return them?
First we suggest that you give it a few days. In-ear headphones are new to most people and take some time to get used to. Second, make sure that you are inserting them properly and deep enough to produce a good seal. A good seal is critical for full sound and bass response. If after that, you still aren't happy, then we will glady accept a return and issue a full refund. We ask that you return them within 10 days of receipt and that you return them with all accessories in like new condition.

3. How does it work when I send you my Etymotic earphones or my iPhone cable (or both)?
First, you place the order on the website. We will email you instructions on where to send your items. Next, send us your items. We recommend using a shipping service that offers detailed tracking, but we accept daily deliveries from USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, and more. Then we get you hooked up. Turn around is generally 1-2 days unless we are unusually busy. Then we send them back to you using the shipping method you selected.

4. Do you ship using methods other than USPS?
Yes, we can use UPS or FedEx if requested in the notes box during checkout. In some cases, extra charges and extra delays may be encounted as this is not our default shipping method. If so, we will send you an email.

5. Do you ship to countries other than the US?
Yes, we can. Additional shipping charges will be applied during checkout.

6. Where are you located?
Ultimate Buds
2013 Eliza Glynne Ln
Knoxville, TN 37931

7. Do the Ultimate Buds iPhone headphones work with other iPods or MP3 players?
Yes, they have worked with every iPod and mp3 player that we've tested them with. Of course, the pushbutton for music playback control only works on the iPhone.

8. What shipping methods are available?
We currently offer USPS Priority (2-3 days typically) and USPS Express (1 day typically) shipping services in the US.  We feel this is the best value for our customers based on the size and weight of our average shipment and the speed with which you will get your package.  For international orders, we offer Internation Express service (3-5 days typically) provided by the USPS.   All shipments are insured agains loss and damage.  We will consider using other carriers if you have a specific request or need.  Please contact us first.

9. How long will it take me to get my order?
Total time to the customer = Fulfillment time + time for carrier to take possession + transit time.   Fulfillment time varies depending on what you order.  For items that have a lead time, this will be displayed on the product details page.  You will receive a shipment confirmation email after the order is fulfilled, but BEFORE the carrier takes possession.  Depending on the time of day or day of the week, there could be up to 48 hours before the carrier takes possession.  Ultimate Buds does not refund shipping costs for Priority or International Express packages.  Express packages are eligible for a shipping cost refund ONLY if the TRANSIT TIME is longer than 2 days (this includes weekends and holidays).

10.  Why are you back to using Apple iPhone Headsets?
For a few months, we used our own headset design, called the HS1, in an attempt to overcome some shortcomings that we had noticied with the Apple headset design.  In the meantime, Apple quiety made some changes to their headsets about the time the iPhone 3G was released.  The cable was thickened and the microphone area was redesigned.  We now feel that this 2nd generation cable is superior to what we were offering and so until we can come up with something even better, we will use the latest Apple headsets.  We are dedicated to providing the best quality product we can, no matter how we have to source parts.

We have received our first shipment of headsets with volume control. These are fully compatible with the iPod nano (4th Gen), iPod Touch (2nd Gen) and the 120 GB iPod. They also work great with the iPhone and iPhone 3G (however, the volume buttons are not functional).
